Welcome to our December 2020 issue of the DRIE Toronto Newsletter!

Since the onset of COVID 19, there has been a worldwide push to digitizing how we work and changing that trajectory of how we do our work. For most of us, the physical routine of getting up early in the morning to commute to work has all changed. Video conferencing and working while wearing a jacket and pyjama bottoms have become the norm.

The hustle and bustle from car horns and pollution has moved to: working from the “alleged” comfort of our bedrooms and other parts of our homes; partners, spouses and children running around the house banging doors or physically interrupting us as we try to do our jobs. We now spend more time with family in the home, and we know where they are and what they are doing. We divide our time and attention between work and dealing with demands from our pets, family members etc. all day long.

This added stress can have a stealthy effect on our general well-being and mental health in trying to cope with it. In addition, the probability of making mistakes goes higher as we try to do our jobs and work through this “Crisis”. It is unfortunate that we all have no idea when or if things will get back to normal.

As Business Continuity professionals we understand the risks that come from working at home and the constant need in the digital world to protect our businesses from risk exposures which may arise from cyber incidents; stressed employees having to deal with a new working environment; and the importance of adopting an orchestrated resilience approach to managing our businesses.

Fear not, DRIE Toronto has been coming up with a number of webinars to keep our heads thinking around these issues!

I encourage you to attend our upcoming webinars and send your articles to us to share with the DRIE community. Keep Healthy and Safe!
