President’s Message

Joe Ozorio, President - DRIE Toronto, CBCP, CBCA, MBCI

Dear fellow DRIE Members:

Welcome to our semi-annual DRIE Digest June 2021 edition. I most certainly things are going well for you both personally and professionally. There is much hope on the horizon on the pandemic front: new cases, positivity rates, ICU counts in Ontario are falling and continuing to trend downward. By the time you read this, my wife and I will both have had our 2nd vaccine shots. I am excited that there could be a return to near-normal in the not-too-distant future! Who knew we would be still under restrictions almost two years from the first reported cases?

May and June saw some significant activity with DRIE Toronto hosting two webinars during Business Continuity Awareness Week and moderating a panel discussion during the Disaster Management Executive Summit. We continue to push the envelope on the dialogue regarding where the BCM profession is heading post-covid.

With re-opening coming, there are a couple of exciting initiatives potentially in the works. The Continuity and Resilience Today conference on December 1st and 2nd of which DRIE is a key partner, will be back in hybrid format, both in-person and broadcast virtually. DRIE Toronto will be following suit with our December Symposium and Annual General Meeting with a date TBD. Of course, this is still dependent on what the COVID-19 situation is across the country and province as these dates approach.

Working with our other chapters across Canada we’ll continue to bring you monthly webinars starting back up in September. Stay tuned for further announcements concerning that.

On behalf of the Board of Directors for DRIE Toronto, I hope you continued good health, safety and success in all your endeavours.
Enjoy the Digest!
