Sue Hilton, CBCP
President
Sue Hilton (CBCP) has over 25 years of experience in a variety of roles within Manulife and has deep knowledge and understanding of the complexities inherent in an organization with a global footprint. Sue has held a number of roles within RIE,
including the portfolios for Sponsorship, Program and most recently Vice-President. She is also on the planning committee for the Continuity and Resiliency Today conference and serves on the Certification Commission for DRI Canada. In her spare time, Sue can be found herding her clowder of formerly feral cats, dabbling in stained glass, painting, or writing her novel that may (or may not) get off the ground someday.
                             
 
    
Suzanne Bernier, CBCP
Vice President & Communications 
Since 1997, Suzanne Bernier has been the steady hand in the face of local and global disasters. Before that, she was a journalist and bilingual government press secretary. From developing the United Nations’ first pandemic exercise to being honored and speaking at The White House in 2016, Suzanne blends her background in journalism with world-class crisis expertise. As the author of Disaster Heroes and a faculty member of DRI International and DRI Canada, she doesn't just manage crises — she empowers communities to rise above them and “bounce forward” towards resilience. She was named BCI’s ‘Crisis & Resilience Consultant of the Year – North America’, and was a recipient of the Ontario government’s Amethyst Award.’

Gayle Mitcham, MBCP, MBCI, CBCA
Treasurer
 

Gayle is a Risk Management Professional with a Master’s Certification in Business Continuity and other Business Continuity disciplines. She has operational and consulting experience in many areas of Risk and Business Continuity Management. She is a rpoven leader, skilled communicator, and project manager with expertise in the following disciplines; Governance, Enterprise Risk, Operational Resilience, Emergency Response Planning, Crisis Management/Communication Planning, Business Continuity Planning, IT Disaster Recovery Planning, Third Party Risk Management, Scenario Planning and Exercising. Gayle currently works for Sun Life Financial providing governance oversight for their global business continuity program. She has been active in a number of volunteer roles related to the Business Continuity profession and has been the Treasurer for
RIE- Toronto Chapter for the past several years..

Mona Vaughan-Burnett, ABCP

Secretary         

Mona Vaughan-Burnett has over 20 years’ experience in risk management, comprising areas such as business continuity,
crisis response & recovery, life safety, privacy, relationship management, and enterprise risk reporting. Mona holds a 
DRI Canada certification in business continuity and serves as Secretary on the RIE Toronto Board.

Joe Ozorio, CBCP, CBCA, MBCI
Past President & Ex Officio
Joe Ozorio is the past President of the RIE Toronto Executive Team. Joe is a former Senior Managing Consultant, who worked in the fields of business continuity, pandemic planning, crisis management & communications, IT Disaster Recovery, plan exercising, and Agile and structured innovative thinking workshops. Now semi-retired, Joe still maintains active interest in the BCM profession, helping to support and map industry directions for fellow BCM and Resiliency practitioners and managers. Joe has served on the RIE Toronto Board of Directors for over 15 years in various capacities.
 
 
   
Bianca Rogers, ABCP
Program Director

Bianca Rogers believes the best resilience strategies are built like good science: methodically, evidenced-based, and with the humility to adapt when the data demands it. She spent twelve years in molecular biology research at the University of Toronto and St. Michael's Hospital, studying extracellular matrix biology and chemotherapeutic drug transport. At REMCA Group Inc., she now applies that scientific rigor to business continuity and resiliency consulting — from stakeholder-driven BIAs and ISO gap assessments to value stream mapping and program development. Bianca completed her ABCP certification through DRII and is a member of the Ontario Association of Emergency Managers.

Marsha Valerie Bijoy

Membership Director & Deputy Communications

A seasoned expert with over 10 years in Operational Resilience and Business Continuity, Marsha has led strategic programs across Asia and the Middle East. At HSBC, she spearheaded multi-country resilience rollouts, conducted scenario testing, and built governance models to strengthen preparedness.
Marsha now serves as a Vice President at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation - Canada Branch, where she leads the enterprise-wide implementation of resilience programs in alignment with OSFI's Guideline E-21. Her work ensures the integration of resilience principles into core business functions, safeguarding operational stability and regulatory compliance.   

 
   
Maurine Dyer, CBCP, CRISC
Sponsorship Director

Maurine Dyer joins RIE Toronto as Sponsorship Director and member of the Board of Directors. 

In her role as Sponsorship Director, she oversees RIE's sponsorship campaign and supports various RIE initiatives. Nandini Shekhawat, CBCI, CBCP
Marketing Director  
Nandini has over 18 years of global experience in building and successfully leading Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance programs in highly regulated environments, delivering transformational solutions across industries such as financial services, retail, e- commerce, energy, healthcare, and government. A recognized and certified authority in Business Continuity, Crisis Management, and Operational Resilience, she ensures resilience programs are aligned with ISO 22301 principles, focusing on operational excellence and compliance. Karrie Smith, CBCP, CMCP
Deputy Treasurer    
Karrie is a 25-year risk management professional with experience in crisis management, business continuity, recovery, and operational and technical resilience. Her career spans the financial services, retail, and pension sectors, including service with the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions. She holds certifications as a Certified Business Continuity Professional and Crisis Management Certified Professional and is an active member of several professional associations, including BCI, OAEM, HTCIA, and ISACA. Mark Silberg, CBCP, CISM
Webmaster

Mark Silberg is the Digital Communications and Webmaster Director on the RIE Toronto Executive Team. Mark has extensive Disaster Recovery experience across multiple financial services institutions. He specializes in the development and governance of technology recovery frameworks and strategies that enable organizations to resiliently weather the impacts of Information Technology disruptions. Mark is a Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) with DRI Canada. He also holds a degree from Ryerson University in Business Technology Management.

Deputy Webmaster
Dorothy joins RIE Toronto as Deputy Webmaster. She is excited to contribute fresh and innovative ideas to help continue the RIE Toronto legacy.
